Amanda - Revised logo

Jackie_revisions

I did some color variations with my logo. Let me know what you think :)

I stumbled upon this amazing artwork by Nick Gentry. It really caught my attention, because he is using mixed paint and computer disks on wood as a medium. He is relating his art to technology, without actually using technology. I love the fact that it looks like a collage, but the piece as a whole looks like a portrait.

The 5 stages of your creative process

I found this on the Print magazine website. I thought it was a really nice way to illustrate the way we move through our own creative processes.

I found these "Honest Logos" on stumble upon, by artist Viktor H. His concept is to reveal the actual content of the company, while keeping the same look and feel of the original logos. My favorite one is the "procrastination" one that is mocking facebook.

Amanda -- Tutorial

This is a nice tutorial from Computer Arts, I think that this might be helpful in our next project and also for the future when creating branding pieces.

On stumble upon I found these double exposure photographs. They were created by the artist Dan Mountford. I love the shape of the human body mixed together with different subjects. They are very pleasing to the eye and keep my attention.

Tattoo Designs... BAD ONES

This may be pretty loosely related to design, but it is entertaining.

Las Vegas Panorama

This is a great street view of Las Vegas outside of the Hotel Paris. It is completely interactive so you can drag the screen to look around whatever direction you want and zoom in or out on specific details.

For this project, I am thinking of incorporating the neon lights aspect. I really like the contrast between the black sky and all of the neon lights. I really like the idea of line drawing, instead of filled in objects.

I am also thinking of using this idea for the front cover, and then basing the line drawing off of that, and using similar patterns throughout the booklet.

Amanda - Brochure Design

I found this article on Computer Arts about brochure design. I thought the tips talked about in this article could help when we start to design the How conference brochure.

I found these neon light sculptures on stumble upon. They have been created by the artist Ivan Navarro. The collection of pieces is titled, "Heaven or Las Vegas," which I found funny because our next project has to do with Vegas. All of the sculptures have been built from the floor plans of twelve of the world's most iconic skyscrapers.

Evolution of Movie Posters

This is a visual history of movie posters and how they have changed in the past 90 years. It is interesting to see how posters have developed over time to suit not only changing aesthetic trends but keep up with advances in technology as well.
